Community Service

The Rotary Club of Pondicherry French City, RI District 2981, proudly conducted its 23rd Installation Ceremony for the Rotary year 2026–27 on 25 June 2026 at Hotel Atithi, Center Point Hall, Puducherry.During the ceremony, Rtn. VR. Udhayashankhar was officially installed as the President for the Rotary year 2026–27, along with the new team of office bearers.The event was graced by Rtn. Major Donor P. Anandan (District Governor 2028–29) as the Chief Guest and Rtn. S. Purushothaman (Assistant Governor, Zone 3) as the Guest of Honour. Rotarians, dignitaries, family members, and well-wishers attended the ceremony, celebrating Rotary’s spirit of fellowship, leadership, and service.The evening concluded with fellowship, dinner, and entertainment, marking the beginning of another year of impactful community service under the Rotary theme “Create Lasting Impact.”

Overview

The Rotary Club of Pondicherry French City successfully organized a Cloth Bag Distribution and Plastic-Free Awareness Campaign in a busy public market area. The objective of the project was to encourage the public to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags and adopt eco-friendly, reusable cloth bags. Rotarians distributed cloth bags free of cost to shoppers and vendors while educating them about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and the importance of protecting the environment through sustainable practices. The campaign received an encouraging response from the public, with many participants appreciating Rotary’s initiative towards building a cleaner and greener community. This project reflects Rotary’s commitment to environmental sustainability, public awareness, and community service by promoting responsible habits that contribute to a healthier planet.
